Latest Babylon 5 Game News from ISN

21/10/99
The campaign by FirstOnes has now made it onto Wired.com, with the additional news that Sierra is in active discussions with four separate companies who are interested in publishing the game according to Dave Williamson, Sierra's senior vice president of business development.

Just spotted an article on The Adrenaline Vault in which Dan Foy, one of the game's programmers, that the design team has received some enquiries from publishers interested in picking up development of the game and that Sierra is willing to sell. Things are looking up, although acquiring the license and code from Sierra is not likely to be a low-cost item, which may still prevent the game being published. Keep up that public expression of interest in the game!

VERY bad news today. Despite having spent a small fortune (one would assume) and being almost ready to release the game, Sierra/Havas have decided to pull the plug! In what appears to be a somewhat senseless decision, several other games that did not meet Sierra's "success criteria" have also axed, along with 105 jobs. A campaign to save the game is currently being organized at First Ones, so be sure to offer your support! For what it's worth, I have added Sierra's press release to the archive and offer my sincerest sympathies to those laid off.
WOW! Games get canned all the time, but the reaction on the net to the Babylon 5 game being canned is phenomenal - it looks like Sierra/Havas have really underestimated the potential market for the game. It's less than 24 hours since the news broke and just about every major games site is getting involved in the campaign to get the game published - make sure you do your bit and it just may be possible to convince Sierra to reverse its decision.

The latest press release from Sierra, issued the day I created this section, indicate that the game's release has slipped into the year 2000.

Launched today! A new section of the site dedicated to the upcoming Babylon 5 game, hopefully the first of many.
Sierra On-line / Yosemite Entertainment's space combat simulator now has a proper title: "Babylon 5: Into The Fire". The game will feature many locations easily recognised by fans of the show, including the bridge of an Omega class destroyer, an ISN news desk and several of the standard station sets. A press release is available.
In addition to the Babylon 5 sets, several members of the original cast will feature in cutscenes during the game, including Bruce Boxleitner (John J. Sheridan), Mira Furlan (Delenn), Jerry Doyle (Michael Garibaldi), Tracy Scoggins (Captain Elizabeth Lochley), Wayne Alexander (Lorien), Thomas MacGreevy (Centauri Minister of Defense), and Beata Pozniak (President Luchenko). In addition numerous new actors feature in roles that are specific to the game, a list of which can be found at: http://www.sierra.com/games/babylon5/news/news_cast.html.
